1.What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gently form of bodywork that utilizes the fluids surrounding the brain and central nervous system. Our body has exquisite wisdom to adapt during times of stress and trauma. During a session we work with the body’s natural healing mechanisms and inner wisdom to bring balance and health into the system. Using light touch we work with the fascia, the bones, the nervous system and the fluid rhythms of the body to release tension patterns and create more space and openness.

2. What can I expect during a session?
Craniosacral is done with clothes on. Wear comfortable clothes. Sessions are done lying down on a massage table. Babies and children's treatment are done so they feel comfortable. Sometimes on the table, sitting and playing with toys or in the care-giver's arms or lap.
3. What payment method do you accept?
I accept cash, check, venmo and credit cards.
4.Are masks required?
I don't wear masks, but I have masks and can wear a mask if you would prefer. If you are not feeling well, I do ask we reschedule our appointment.
5.How can Craniosacral help me?
Addressing fascial restrictions in the body and nervous system can be different for each person. When we address the restrictions in the body we create a greater sense of health and the systems of our body can work in greater harmony. Some people will feel more grounded, spacious, ease and settled in their body. Some people will have relief from tension and pain. Some people feel like their body systems are more integrated and coordinated, like digestion. Some parents feel like their children feel more settled and less edgy. Some parents notice ease in feeding/latching and/or their babies feel more comfortable in their bodies.
Sometimes the results are instant for others, it may take a few sessions. Sometimes people can feel tired or experience some discomfort as old patterns unwind.
How people feel is different for every person. Above are some ways people have described to me as well as what I have noticed in myself. No two people are alike and what we hold is different. How each person will react will be different. Sometimes it will help someone and sometimes it will not.
6. How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different. I don’t know that this work will resolve your problem, but I usually recommend trying one session to make sure craniosacral therapy is a good fit for you. If after the first session if you feel a sense of release or ease and you would like to continue, I usually recommend 3 sessions to see how you respond to the work. After the three sessions, we can evaluate and see if you would like to continue. If your problem has been with you longer, it may take longer to resolve. Sometimes it won’t resolve, but can create resource and reduce stress in your life as you navigate on your path to wellness.
8. I didn't feel much, why not?
Craniosacral is a light touch therapy. Everyone experiences it differently. Some people feel a lot of sensations while others don’t feel much at all. Just because you don’t feel much, doesn’t mean that there is not change happening. You can use your session(s) as an opportunity to become more acquainted to body sensations. You can also take the few days after your session to notice if there are shifts in your body or states of mind. You may or may not notice differences.
9. How come I feel pain or discomfort after my session?
While I don’t know exactly why one may feel pain after a session in an area that didn’t feel pain at the beginning of a session, I have a couple of thoughts. The body has so many levels and layers. Sometimes when one level is cleared and open creating new pathways, other sensations and awarenesses can arise. I often use the analogy I read in a Bob Frissell book many years ago. We are like a glass of water. When we pour a lot of clean fresh water in the glass, anything that is settled at the bottom may be stirred up. That is ok, but also something we need to be aware of. This work is both subtle and deep and continues to integrate over the next few days. If you notice the pain is not shifting or getting worse, please let me know and we can address that. As the unwinding process happens, discomforts usually clear up on their own.
